We provide professional removal and exclusion services for a wide range of wildlife, including (but not limited to) bats, birds, beavers, coyotes, deer, foxes, groundhogs, moles, mice, mink, muskrats, raccoons, rats, skunks, snakes, squirrels, and voles. If you're dealing with an animal, bird, or amphibian not listed here, feel free to reach out. We'll let you know immediately if we can assist.
Additionally, we offer safe and efficient dead animal removal. If an animal has passed on your property and you prefer not to handle it yourself, we’ll take care of proper disposal. If the animal is inside your home, we’ll conduct an initial survey to locate it and discuss the best course of action for removal.
If a person or pet gets sprayed by a skunk, the first thing you want to do is avoid letting them come into contact with anything that might absorb the smell, like towels, furniture, car seats, or other people.
Next, remove any clothing, shoes, collars, or anything else the person or pet is wearing. Place these items in a black plastic bag and keep them outside, well away from the house or car.
Once the individual or pet is disrobed, it’s time for a bath. Use water that is as cold as comfortably possible. Skunk spray is oil-based, so hot or warm water can spread the oils around, making the situation worse. The only solution you’ll need is a simple DIY mixture, which you can easily make with items from your kitchen or medicine cabinet:
Skunk Spray Remover Recipe:
1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup baking soda
2 teaspoons dish soap (Dawn works best)
This mixture will clean the person or pet and should remove about 95% of the smell. Any remaining mixture can be used to wash the affected clothing or fabrics in your washing machine. However, do not dry these items in the dryer. Only dry them outside, in the sunlight and fresh air, to ensure the smell doesn’t linger.
This mixture eliminates most of the odor, but some oils may remain in the skin, hair, fur, or fabric. These oils will dissipate over time, but keep in mind that heat and humidity can bring them back to the surface.
To avoid all of this, it's essential to prevent skunks from making themselves comfortable on your property. They may be attracted by food sources or ideal habitats. If you’d like, we can come out and inspect your property to ensure that wildlife, such as skunks, raccoons, mice, rats, and snakes, aren’t becoming a nuisance.
